RB at The Right Sphere has the right idea about the fiscal cliff, something I and others have been saying since election day. A great post:
We have to fight with the army we have, and right now we don’t have an army. Not in Washington DC, at least. There simply aren’t enough conservatives in positions of power to make anything that would actually work to fix the economy happen. Basically, it’s Paul Ryan and a couple dozen Congressman and Senators who have anything remotely close to a long term solution, but Ryan is the only one with a leadership position and he can’t do squat with Harry Reid as Majority Leader in the Senate.
So what do they do? They’re stuck in a no-win situation. The answer is simple: Give Obama what he wants. All of it. Don’t negotiate. Just say “Put your plan up for a vote and we’ll pass it. You will own everything that happens moving forward. We’ll do it your way.”
Even better, have Boehner and McConnell go on The Daily Show and announce the plan. That’s the audience they have to win over, isn’t it? “We’re giving President Obama a rubber stamp…that’s what you voted for, so that’s what you’ll get.” In fact, Rush Limbaugh today suggested the GOP hold a news conference and just say, “You know what, we hate ourselves just as much as women and minorities do.” Might as well. It’s all about the demos now.
Let it come down!

Out of every option out there, I’m in more and more agreement with this one all the time. Well said.
Besides – the Sequestration doesn’t actually cut spending. It just decreases the increase in spending. This whole “crisis” is so unserious – it’s like freaking out about the paint job as your house burns to the ground, and finally getting both sides to whip out paint brushes together.
I love the new digs! Best righty blog in Nevada right now.
Thank you!
